I learnt this from my MIL. Its a very tasty one pot meal recipe.I usually make it for dinner.I use noi arisi ( broken rice ) to prepare this upma. Its available in all grocery stores. If u don’t get this rice, u can just break the raw rice by running in the mixie once or twice. No side dish is needed. If neede it can be served with chopped onions. It can be made in jiffy.Apt for bachelors and working women!

This is a yummy dish which my granny n mom use to make..thank you chitra for sharing this recipe..awesome!
Chitra my mom used make this when we were in Bombay(Mumbai) in the 70s when there was a scarcity for rice. We would buy in the ration and my mom had to separate rice from the broken rice using moram. The noi (broken rice) was used to make this stuff and we used to call it noi arisi pongal. We used to eat rotis for dinner but on Thursdays our friends would come to watch what was called Chaaya Geet and had no time to help mom in making rotis (for a family of 6). Thanks for sharing this
Thanks for sharing your memories.
I did this with broken wheat and the results are amazing. Thanks for the recipe. My sons wanted it. Since i take rice less, tried with broken wheat.
Happy to see your feedback. Thanks a lot for sharing. Glad you made it more healthy 😊
